The Accidental Lighthouse [2012]
As part of the initial design stages before 'Patches of the Picturesque', the 'Accidental Lighthouse' design embraced an architecture focusing on self-sustainability and creation of events to work in conjunction with the National Trust.
The Lightning Tower was the pursuit of harvesting lightning and converted into energy to contribute towards Orford Town. Artificial lightning rockets are built in the tower and shot into the night sky to attract lightning. The facades were to maximise the harvesting of natural resources (wind & sun) whilst the tower also looked towards Tidal Stream generators.
The pursuit of lightning would also create an event as a by product to attract visitors onto Orford Ness. The delights of electricity are displayed as lights on the tower - assimilating a fulgurite.
